Mail from root is clearly a bogus requirement.  telnet'ing to the smtp
port makes that silly (there are even nice user interface programs to
make it easy to fake the source of mail these days without requiring
even the abilty to read an RFC).  As well as not addressing places
like Project Athena which publish the public workstation root
password!

The vouching for stuff might work, but I think it'll grow to fast to
manage ...
