As I understand it there are about 6,000 sites in the internet host
tables and about 56,000 sites that are in the domain servers.

I think 60,000 is a better estimate of the number of Internet hosts
than 6,000.

There was a message posted to tcp-ip a few weeks ago that described
someone writing a program to walk through the domain tree and count hosts.
I'm fairly sure that he quoted 56,000 as reachable hosts.
